Title: Mike's Minute

I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; from whence shall my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made the heaven and earth.

Psalm 121:1-2

E. Stanley Jones tells the story of a missionary who became lost in an African jungle. Looking around, he saw nothing but bush and a few clearings.

He stumbled through the jungle until he finally came upon a native hut. He asked the native living there if he could lead him out of the jungle and back to the mission camp. The native agreed to help him.

“Thank you!” exclaimed the missionary. “Which way do I go?” The native replied, “Walk.” And so they did, hacking their way through the unmarked jungle for more than an hour.

In pausing to rest, the missionary looked around and had the same overwhelming sense that he was lost. As before, all he saw was bush and jungle.

“Are you sure this is the way?” he asked. “I don’t see any path.”

The native looked at him and replied, “Friend, in this place there is no path. I am the path.”

When we have no clue what to do next, we should remember that God is omniscient... all knowing. When we feel alone, we should remember that God is omnipresent... He is everywhere. When we feel weak, we should remember that God is omnipotent... all powerful.

And when we are lost, we should remember that Jesus is the way.
